God wants to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the world
God wishes to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the world (Our Lady of Fatima, June 13th and July 13th, 1917). To do this, Our Lady gave us two special requests:
- The 1st special request was for a collegial consecration by the Pope and the bishops.
- The 2nd special request is for the First Saturdays. Of the two requests, the First Saturdays is what we are responsible for doing, clergy and laity
On December 10, 1925, Our Lady returned to explain what is needed to be fulfilled on the First Saturday. The Child Jesus came with her.
The Child Jesus said to Sr. Lucia:
“Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to remove them with an act of reparation.”
Our Lady then said:
“My daughter, look at My Heart surrounded with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me, and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death with all the graces necessary for salvation all those who on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary and keep me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me” (December 10, 1925).
The meaning of establish
If we wish to establish devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, it is not enough for the First Saturdays devotion to be done privately only. As God wants, it must be established in the world.
- To establish something, it must be visible, public, permanent, continuous.
- To establish something in the Church, it must also be approved by the Church.
The First Saturdays must be established in parishes and not in any public form, but in a way that is approved by the Church. Otherwise, if not public and communal, there is no way to know the faithful are fulfilling the practices of Our Lady’s request for world peace. Our Lady would not be given credit for the triumph. This would be an injustice against her Heart, an obstacle to peace.
