What is the Communal First Saturdays®?

Approved and established in parishes

The Communal First Saturdays® is established in parishes and is inseparable from The Communal First Saturdays Devotional (Devotional). The Devotional book allows the faithful to follow the order of devotion and ensures that the First Saturdays are fulfilled correctly in a canonically and liturgically approved way. The word canonically refers to the fact that this has been approved by canon law and a cardinal. Liturgical means that the cardinal has approved the Communal First Saturdays® to be done publicly in the parish according to liturgical law. The same is true of the Spanish and Portuguese translations of the Devotional. For more detailed information about the Devotional, please click here.

A powerful way to make reparation

The Communal First Saturdays® fulfills reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a public way. The most powerful way to make reparation is by joining together.

Reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary removes the obstacles that block the way to a more complete union with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

The Communal First Saturdays® is a unique and public form of the First Saturdays that fulfills all 4 practices in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in a more powerful and efficacious way. For example, the Communal First Saturdays® has its own signature Rosary that combines the devotion of the Rosary with the devotion of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to reflect what Our Lady made known she desired at Fatima. The Communal First Saturdays® also has a Signature Meditation with the use of Scripture and in the form of lectio divina. There is a different Meditation each month that harmonizes with the liturgical cycle. The meditation is done after Mass while Jesus is still present within us after receiving Holy Communion. Graces can flow from the Holy Eucharist within us during this time while we are lovingly attentive to Him.

Please see the pamphlet Order of the Communal First Saturdays for an excellent explanation of the way the practices are arranged in the Communal First Saturdays®.

Importance of Standardization

The Communal First Saturdays® is also a standardized way to practice the First Saturdays completely and more perfectly. There have been other public First Saturdays, but they don’t fulfill what Our Lady requested, so they can’t bring peace to the world. For example, some neglect to mention that the purpose of this devotion is to make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Others do not have the meditation or do not practice the meditation while keeping Our Lady company. Also, over time, a number of unapproved and unrelated material can find its way into these unstandardized forms of devotion. There are other numerous issues with these unstandardized approaches at the First Saturdays Devotion. The Church-approved Communal First Saturdays® solves all of these problems.
